For best results, use dedicated speaker stands. If used on a sturdy shelf, allow ample space behind the speaker (minimum 5cm).

POSITIONING

Cambridge Audio SX-50 Bookshelf Speaker FIG-2

Ideally the speakers and listening position should be located equal distances apart, but feel free to experiment with positioning until you are happy with the sound.

Cambridge Audio SX-50 Bookshelf Speaker FIG-4

If the speakers are placed on a desk or close to a wall, the bass may become too strong. We have provided foam bass tuning bungs that will reduce bass output when inserted into the ports.

FAQs for Cambridge Audio SX-50 Bookshelf Speaker User Manual

How are bookshelf speakers used?

Generally, bookshelf speakers should be positioned at the 10 and 2 o’clock positions, with their angles pointed in the direction of your favorite listening position. For best performance, the tweeters need to be placed at ear level.

Do bookcase speakers merit the price?

They do not produce as much bass and do not occupy as much visual or physical space as larger tower speakers. However, a good set of bookshelf speakers will offer a satisfyingly full sound for most listeners and musical genres. (You can frequently add a subwoofer if you truly want extra bass.)

Can bookshelf speakers be used as surround sound?

Both passive and powered bookshelf speakers can make excellent front speakers if space is an issue. Bookshelf speakers are frequently utilized as surrounds. Few things can match the expansive bipolar speaker system when it comes to creating the ideal surround sound experience.

How much room is required by bookshelf speakers?

For bookshelf speakers, aim for a distance of 4 feet, while for floor-standing speakers, aim for 8 feet. Too close speakers will cause sounds to muddle and merge together.

What benefits does a bookshelf offer?

Shelves for books have a lot of benefits. Bookshelves help organize books of various shapes and sizes while also giving you room for other things like picture frames, accents, or souvenirs you want to display to guests. They themselves come in a variety of sizes and shapes.

What position should bookshelf speakers be in?

Both bookshelf speakers should be situated two to three feet from the back wall and at an equal distance from the side walls for the best sound. Audiophiles refer to the ideal listening spot in a space where the sound is most balanced as the “Sweet Spot.”

Which bookshelf speaker should I pick?

Better sound is not always produced by larger speakers. More frequently than most, they equal more volume. If the speaker is active, larger size also translates to larger drivers and more space for the amplifier electronics. You might wish to consider a larger bookshelf speaker if you value volume.

Can I wirelessly connect my bookshelf speakers?

Are your current surround sound speakers capable of being converted to wireless speakers? Yes, buying a wireless speaker kit will make this extremely simple for you. By transmitting the audio signals via RF, these wireless speaker kits turn standard speakers wireless (radio-frequency).

Are bookshelf speakers necessary for a subwoofer?

This demonstrates that not all bookshelf speakers are made equal and that the best audio experience can be had without a standalone subwoofer with the correct design and high-quality parts. All things considered, many bookshelf speaker systems can perform just well without a subwoofer.

Can I connect my PC to bookshelf speakers?

You may upgrade your desktop audio setup by converting any pair of passive bookshelf speakers into computer speakers.
