WARNINGS/CAUTIONS
- To avoid accidental ingestion, keep the earbuds away from children and pets. The earbuds contain a lithium-ion battery and may be hazardous if swallowed. If ingested, seek immediate medical attention. When not in use, store the earbuds in the charging case with the charging lid closed, and keep them out of the reach of children and pets.
- Do NOT allow children to use the earbuds.
- Do NOT use the earbuds at a high volume for any extended period.
- To avoid hearing damage, use your earbuds at a comfortable, moderate volume level.
- Turn the volume down on your device before placing the earbuds in/on your ears, then turn the volume up gradually until you reach a comfortable listening level.
- When using this product, basic precautions should always be followed, including the following: – Read all the instructions before using the charging case.
- To reduce the risk of injury, close supervision is necessary when the charging case is used near children.
- Do not expose the charging case to water, rain, liquids, or snow.
- Use of a power supply or charger not recommended or sold by a power pack manufacturer may result in a risk of fire or injury to persons.
- Do not use the charging case over its output rating. Overload outputs above the rating may result in a risk of fire or injury to persons.
- Do not use a charging case that is damaged or modified. Damaged or modified batteries may exhibit unpredictable behavior resulting in fire, explosion, or risk of injury to persons.
- Do not disassemble the charging case. Take it to a qualified service person when service or repair is required. Incorrect re-assembly may result in a risk of fire or injury to persons.
- Do not open, crush, or expose a charging case to fire or excessive temperature. Exposure to fire or temperature above 212° F, 100° C may cause explosion.
- Have servicing performed by a qualified repair person using only identical replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of the product is maintained.
- Use caution and follow applicable laws regarding mobile phone and headphone use if using earbuds for phone calls while driving. Some jurisdictions impose specific limitations, such as single earpiece configuration, on the use of such products while driving. DON’T use the earbuds for any other purpose while driving.
- Focus on your safety and that of others if you use the earbuds while engaging in any activity requiring your attention, e.g. while riding a bicycle or walking in or near traffic, a construction site or railroad, etc. Remove the earbuds or adjust your volume to ensure you can hear surrounding sounds, including alarms and warning signals.
- Do NOT use the earbuds if they emit any loud unusual noise. If this happens, turn the earbuds off and contact Bose customer service.
- Do NOT submerge or expose the earbuds for extended periods to water, or wear them while participating in water sports, e.g., swimming, waterskiing, surfing, etc.
- Remove earbuds immediately if you experience a warming sensation or loss of audio.
- Contains small parts which may be a choking hazard. Not suitable for children under age 3.
This product contains magnetic material. Consult your physician on whether this might affect your implantable medical device. These earbuds are classified as a CLASS 1 LASER PRODUCT according to EN / IEC 60825-1:2014.
- Do NOT make unauthorized alterations to this product.
- Do NOT use the earbuds without the supplied ear tips attached.
- Use this product only with an agency-approved power supply that meets local regulatory requirements (e.g., UL, CSA, VDE, CCC).
- The battery provided with this product may present a risk of fire or chemical burn if mishandled.
- Do not expose products containing batteries to excessive heat (e.g. from storage in direct sunlight, fire, or the like).
- Wipe off sweat from the earbuds and the charging case before charging.
- IPX4 is not a permanent condition, and resistance might decrease as a result of normal wear.
- To avoid hazardous radiation exposure from the internal laser component, use the product only as specified in the instructions. The earbuds should not be adjusted or repaired by anyone except properly qualified service personnel.

B O S E MU S IC A P P S E T U P
The Bose Music app lets you set up and control the earbuds from any mobile device, such as a smartphone or tablet. Using the app, you can manage Bluetooth connections, manage earbud settings, choose your voice prompt language, and get new features.
NOTE: If you have already created a Bose account for another Bose product, see “Add the earbuds to an existing account.”
DOWNLOAD THE BOSE MUSIC APP
- On your mobile device, download the Bose Music app.
NOTE: If you’re located in mainland China, download the Bose8 app.
- Follow the app instructions.
ADD THE EARBUDS TO AN EXISTING ACCOUNT
In the Bose Music app, go to the My Products screen and add your Bose Sport Earbuds.
S W E A T A N D W E A T H E R R E S IS T A N C E
The earbuds are rated IPX4 water resistant. They are designed to be sweat and weather-resistant but aren’t meant to be submerged underwater.
CAUTIONS:
- Do NOT swim or shower with the earbuds.
- Do NOT submerge the earbuds.
NOTES:
- To prevent rusting, regularly clean the charging contacts on the earbuds with a dry, soft cotton swab or equivalent.
- IPX4 is not a permanent condition, and resistance might decrease as a result of normal wear.
INSERT THE EARBUDS
- Insert the earbud so the ear tip gently rests at the opening of your ear canal.
NOTE: Each ear tip is marked with either an L (left) or an R (right).
- Slightly rotate the earbud back until the ear tip creates a comfortable seal at your ear canal.
NOTE: Rotating the earbud too far back (or forward) may impact audio and microphone sound quality.
- Tuck the ear tip wing under your ear ridge.
- Check the fit (see page 18).
- Repeat steps 1 – 4 to insert the other earbud.
CHECK YOUR FIT
Use a mirror to make sure you have successfully rotated the earbud back, tucked the ear tip wing, and that you’re using the best ear tip size for each ear.
TRY ANOTHER EAR TIP SIZE
Wear the earbuds for an extended period. If the ear tips don’t feel comfortable or secure, or the sound quality isn’t as expected, try another ear tip size.
The size is marked on the bottom of each ear tip with a 1 (small), 2 (medium), or 3 (large).
The size 2 ear tips come attached to the earbuds. If size 2 feels too loose, try size 3. If it feels too tight, try size 1. You may need to try all three ear tip sizes or use a different size ear tip for each ear.
CHANGE THE EAR TIPS
- Holding the earbud, gently stretch the ear tip base and peel it away from the earbud.
CAUTION: To prevent tearing, do NOT pull on the top of the ear tip.
- Choose a new ear tip size (see page 18).
- Align the earbud nozzle with the back of the ear tip, and slide the earbud nozzle onto the ear tip.
- Gently stretch the base of the ear tip around the nozzle, and press down until the ear tip clicks securely into place.
- Insert the earbuds (see page 17).
- Check the fit (see page 18).
POWER ON
Press the button on the front of the charging case.“When the charging case opens, the earbuds power on. The earbud status lights (see page 32) and charging case status lights glow (see page 36).NOTE: When you remove the earbuds from the charging case, close the case to help preserve the battery life and keep the case free of debris.
POWER OFF
- Place both earbuds in the charging case.
The earbud status lights glow according to the charging status (see page 29).
- Close the case.
The earbuds power off.
STANDBY
Standby conserves the earbud battery when the earbuds are out of the case and not in use. The earbuds switch to Standby when you remove both earbuds from your ears for 20 minutes. To wake the earbuds, insert the right earbud into your ear.
T O U C H C O N T R O L
Use touch control by tapping or swiping the touch surface of the earbuds. With touch control, you can play/pause audio, change the volume (if enabled), perform basic call functions, access mobile device voice control, and use a Shortcut (see page 30).
TOUCH SURFACE AREA
The touch surface is located on the outer surface of each earbud. The right earbud controls media playback, volume, phone calls, and mobile device voice control. The left earbud controls your Shortcut.
MEDIA PLAYBACK AND VOLUME
*To enable this feature, use the Bose Music app. You can access this option from the Settings menu.
PHONE CALLS
NOTE: The microphone is located on the right earbud. When talking on the phone, you must wear the right earbud. You hear audio from both earbuds.
Call notifications
A voice prompt announces incoming callers and calls status. To stop call notifications, disable voice prompts using the Bose Music app. You can access this option from the Settings menu.
NOISE CANCELLATION
To change the noise canceling mode, double-tap the left earbud (see page 28).
MOBILE DEVICE VOICE CONTROL
You can access your mobile device’s voice control using the earbuds. The microphone on the right earbud acts as an extension of the microphone in your mobile device.
IN – E A R D E T E C T IO N
In-ear detection uses sensors to identify when you’re wearing the right earbud. You can automatically play/pause audio and answer phone calls (if enabled) by inserting or removing the right earbud.
NOTE: To disable in-ear detection features, use the Bose Music app. You can access these options from the Settings menu.
AUTO PLAY/PAUSE
When you remove the right earbud, audio pauses on both earbuds. To resume audio, reinsert the right earbud.
AUTO ANSWER CALL
You can answer phone calls by inserting the right earbud.
NOTE: To enable this feature, use the Bose Music app. You can access this option from the Settings menu.
AUTO TRANSPARENCY
When you remove an earbud, the noise-canceling mode adjusts to full transparency on the other earbud (see page 27).
To adjust the other earbud to its previous noise-canceling mode, reinsert the earbud.
NOISE CANCELLATION
Noise-canceling reduces unwanted noise, providing a clearer and more lifelike audio performance.
You can choose between two noise-cancelling modes:
- Quiet and Aware.
- Quiet Mode allows you to block out distractions using the highest level of noise cancellation.
- Aware Mode provides full transparency and allows you to hear your surroundings while enjoying your audio. Aware Mode also includes ActiveSense™ technology to reduce sudden or loud noises.
Choose your noise noise-cancelling mode based on your listening preferences and environment.

ADJUST NOISE CANCELLATION
To change the noise canceling mode, double-tap the left earbud. A voice prompt announces the selected noise-cancelling mode
USE NOISE CANCELLATION ONLY
- Clear away noisy distractions without audio. Focus on what matters most — your work or whatever your passion
- Double-tap the left earbud to set your preferred noise-canceling mode (see page 27).

SHORTCUT
A Shortcut enables you to quickly and easily access one of the following functions:
- Check the earbud battery level.
- Skip a track.
Set a Shortcut
To set a Shortcut, use the Bose Music app. You can access this option from the Settings menu.
Use your Shortcut
To use your Shortcut, double-tap the left earbud.
Remove or change your Shortcut
To remove or change your Shortcut, use the Bose Music app. You can access this option from the Settings menu.
CHARGE THE EARBUDS
- Align the charging contacts on the left earbud with the charging pins on the left side of the charging case.
NOTE: Before charging, make sure the earbuds are at room temperature, between 46° F (8° C) and 102° F (39° C).
- Place the earbud in the charging case until it magnetically snaps into place.
The earbud status light glows according to the charging status (see page 29).
- Repeat steps 1 – 2 for the right earbud.
- Close the charging case.
NOTE: If the case is also charging, it can remain open.
CHARGE THE CHARGING CASE
CAUTION: Use this product only with an agency-approved power supply that meets local regulatory requirements (e.g., UL, CSA, VDE, CCC).
- With the charging case closed, connect the small end of the USB cable to the USB-C port.
- Connect the other end to a USB-A wall charger (not provided).
The charging case status lights glow (see page 30).
NOTES:
- If the earbuds are in the case, the case can remain open.
- Before charging, make sure the case is at room temperature, between 46° F (8° C) and 102° F (39° C).
CHECK THE EARBUD BATTERY LEVEL
While using the earbuds
- When you remove the earbuds from the charging case and insert them into your ears, a voice prompt announces the earbud battery level.
- If you set your Shortcut to check the battery level, double-tap the left earbud (see page 25). A voice prompt announces the earbud battery level.
- Use the Bose Music app. The earbud battery level is displayed on the My Products screen and the home screen.
NOTE: If one earbud has a lower battery level than the other, the voice prompt announces the lower battery level. If the battery is low, you hear “Battery low, please charge now.”
While charging the earbuds
When you place the earbuds into the charging case, the earbud status lights glow according to the charging status (see page 29).
CHECK THE CHARGING CASE BATTERY LEVEL
Press the button on the front of the charging case to open the case.
The charging case status lights glow according to the battery level (see page 30).
CHARGING TIME
NOTES:
- When the earbud battery level is low, a 15-minute charge powers the earbuds for up to 2 hours.
- A full charge powers the earbuds for up to 5 hours.
- When the case is fully charged, you can fully charge the earbuds up to 2 times.
- When the earbuds are inside the case, the case charging time varies.
EARBUD STATUS LIGHTS
The earbud status lights are located on the outside surface of each earbud.
Bluetooth status
Shows the Bluetooth connection status of mobile devices.
Battery status
It shows the earbud battery status.
CHARGING CASE STATUS LIGHTS
The charging case status lights are located on the front of the charging case. They show the charge status and battery level of the case and the earbud update status.
Battery status
Shows the charging case battery level.
NOTE: When the case is charging, the last light blinks according to the current battery level. When it is fully charged, all five charging case status lights glow solid white.
Update and error status
Shows the update and error status.
CONNECT USING THE BLUETOOTH MENU ON YOUR MOBILE DEVICE
You can store up to seven devices in the earbud device list. You can connect and play audio from only one device at a time.
NOTE: For the best experience, use the Bose Music app to set up and connect your mobile device (see page 14).
- Press and hold the Bluetooth button l in the charging case until you hear “Ready to connect.”
NOTE: If you’re not wearing the earbuds, press and hold the Bluetooth button l in the charging case until the earbud status lights slowly pulse blue.
- On your device, enable the Bluetooth
NOTE: The Bluetooth feature is usually found in the Settings menu.
- Select the earbuds from the device list.
NOTE: Look for the name you entered for your earbuds in the Bose Music app. If you didn’t name your earbuds, the default name appears.
Once connected, you hear “Connected to <mobile device name>.” The earbud’s name appears in the mobile device list.
NOTE: If you’re not wearing the earbuds, the status lights glow solid blue.
DISCONNECT A MOBILE DEVICE
Use the Bose Music app to disconnect your mobile device.
TIP: You can also use Bluetooth settings to disconnect your device. Disabling the Bluetooth feature disconnects all other devices.
RECONNECT A MOBILE DEVICE
When powered on, the earbuds try to connect with the most recently-connected device.
NOTES:
- The device must be within range (30 ft or 9 m) and powered on.
- Make sure the Bluetooth feature is enabled on your mobile device.
CLEAR THE EARBUD DEVICE LIST
- Press and hold the Bluetooth button l in the charging case until you hear “Bluetooth device list cleared.”
NOTE: If you’re not wearing the earbuds, press and hold the Bluetooth button l in the charging case for 10 seconds. The earbud status lights slowly pulse blue.
- Delete the earbuds from the Bluetooth list on your mobile device.
All devices are cleared, and the earbuds are ready to connect (see page 14).
C A R E A N D MA IN T E N A N C E
STORE THE EARBUDS
When you’re not using the earbuds, store them in the charging case. Close the charging case to help preserve battery life and keep the charging case free of debris. When storing the earbuds for an extended period (more than 4 weeks), make sure they are stored at room temperature and the charging case battery level is greater than 40% (see page 30).

UPDATE THE EARBUDS
The earbuds and charging case begin updating automatically when connected to the Bose Music app and an update is available. Follow the app instructions.
TIP: You can also update the earbuds and charging case using the Bose updater website. On your computer, visit: btu.Bose.com and follow the on-screen instructions.
VIEW THE EARBUD DATE CODE
Remove the ear tip from the earbud (see page 19). The date code is located on the earbud nozzle.
VIEW THE CHARGING CASE SERIAL NUMBER
Remove the right earbud from the charging case. The charging case serial number is located on the left side of the right earbud.TIP: The charging case serial number is also located on the carton’s outer label.
TRY THESE SOLUTIONS FIRST
If you experience problems with the earbuds, try these solutions first:
- Charge the battery (see page 26).
- Power on the earbuds (see page 20).
- Check the earbud status lights and charging case status lights (see page 29).
- Make sure your mobile device supports Bluetooth connections (see page 31).
- Download the Bose Music app and run available software updates (see page 14).
- Move your mobile device closer to the earbuds (30 ft or 9 m) and away from any interference or obstructions.
- Increase the volume on the earbuds, your mobile device, and the music app.
- Connect another mobile device (see page 14).

REBOOT THE EARBUDS AND CHARGING CASE
If the earbuds are unresponsive, you can reboot them.
NOTE: Rebooting the earbuds clears the earbud device list. It doesn’t clear other settings.
- Place the earbuds in the charging case.
- Press and hold the Bluetooth button l in the charging case for 30 seconds until the earbud status lights blink.
When the reboot is complete, the earbud status lights (see page 29) and charging case status lights glow (see page 30).
FAQs Bose Quiet Comfort Earbuds
Can you use Bose Quiet Comfort earbuds to make and receive phone calls?
You can answer, end, and manage phone calls with a Bose product. This makes it easier for you to answer calls without using the mobile device’s controls.
Without music, do Bose earbuds block out noise?
You don’t need the Bose Music app to utilize your headphones. Three distinct noise canceling levels are selectable via the Noise Cancellation button (0, 5, and 10)
With the left Bose earpiece, can you talk?
Making calls You must use the proper earbud when speaking on the phone. Notifications of calls: Call status and incoming callers are announced with a voice prompt. Use the Bose Music app to turn off voice prompts to silence call notifications. This feature is available through the Settings menu.
Can Bose earbuds be overcharged?
Overcharging the battery by plugging it in overnight is not possible. To prevent overcharging, lithium batteries include a built-in auto-off feature that activates when a full charge is attained. The battery level will need to go below a particular level, even while still plugged in, in order to start charging once more.
Do the Bose QuietComfort earbuds shut off on their own?
If your product is not in use for a while, the automatic power-off setting enables it to turn off and go into standby. This is helpful, for instance, to save energy in the event that your product is unintentionally left powered on.
Can I use the Bose Quiet Comfort earbuds to listen to music?
A short double-tap of the left earbud will immediately enter Aware Mode. Aware Mode with ActiveSenseTM technology is now available on QuietComfort® Earbuds, allowing you to simultaneously hear your music and your surroundings.
Can the noise cancellation on the Bose Quiet Comfort earbuds be turned off?
Swipe the Noise Cancellation slider after selecting your product in the Bose Music app: To boost noise cancellation, swipe to the right. To reduce noise reduction, swipe left.
Are Bose earbuds trackable?
If your earphones disappear for whatever reason, use the Bose Connect app and go back to “Find My Buds.” Here, you can see a map of your present position as well as the location of the last time you used your headphones and mobile device.
Can the battery in Bose earbuds be changed?
If the battery in your product starts to degrade or dies, you can remove it and replace it.
How long does the battery in Bose earbuds last?
The battery normally lasts about 16 hours when fully charged. When operating in noisy situations or at greater volume levels, battery life decreases more quickly. The battery has a normal lifespan of 500 charge cycles.
