FAQs NZXT Kraken X Liquid Cooler With RGB Fans
Should the radiator’s tubes be installed at the top or bottom of the radiator?
When it comes to setting up any All-in-One Liquid cooler in a side or front mount arrangement, this is one of the most contentious concerns, with the answer being significantly more nuanced but ultimately coming down to personal opinion. For Kraken series coolers with the pump in the cap rather than the radiator, any configuration is acceptable as long as the highest point in the radiator is higher than the cap in the case.
Can I re-use my cables or fans if I upgrade from the Kraken X/Kraken Z to the newer Kraken or Kraken Elite?
The previous cables will no longer be compatible with the newer Kraken and Kraken Elite coolers due to hardware upgrades. If you’re coming from an RGB Kraken X or Z cooler, you’ll need to use an additional RGB controller.
Is the CAM program compatible with MacOS or Linux? What about prior Windows versions like 7 and 8?
At the moment, the NZXT CAM program is only available for Windows 10 and newer operating systems.
Is it necessary for CAM to be running at all times?
It is suggested that you do not close the NZXT CAM program when using the Kraken. If you are utilizing any system reporting mode, such as GPU or CPU temperature, or if you have a dynamic pump curve configured (Silent, Performance, or Custom), the CAM program must be active in order to transmit current information to the Kraken. If the CAM software is stopped or the connection is lost, the Kraken will stop updating its settings until the device is reset or the CAM is relaunched. If the Kraken is unable to connect to the CAM software, it will operate in a safe default mode until the CAM software is detected.
How can I rotate the screen of the Kraken?
If you’ve installed your Kraken and discover that your screen is tilted, flipped, or otherwise unsatisfactory, you can alter the screen rotation using the CAM program. To enlarge its panel, navigate to the Lighting section and select the “LCD Display” option. The Rotate Display link in the top right corner of the panel will take you to the Kraken Screen Rotation options. These can be changed in 30 degree increments for Kraken Z and Kraken Elite versions with a full edge-to-edge screen. The smaller screens on the Kraken 240, 280, and 360 models may only be adjusted in 90 degree increments.
How can I manage the RGB on my Kraken 120 if it does not shown in the NZXT CAM software?
Only when connected to a NZXT RGB Header, such as those found on a NZXT N-series Motherboard or a NZXT RGB Controller, would the Kraken 120 appear in the CAM program. If you connect your Kraken 120 to a 3-pin Addressable RGB Header (5V) through the provided adapter to either the motherboard or a third-party RGB controller, you must use the control software included with that motherboard or controller. Please see the following article for further information:

How can I operate the pump and fan on my Kraken 120 or Kraken M22 if it does not appear in the NZXT CAM software?
The RGB control on the Kraken 120 and Kraken M22 coolers is only available via the CAM program in the Lighting section. You’ll need to utilize either the motherboard BIOS or the motherboard’s control software to configure the pump and/or fan(s) for cooling control, such as setting the pump and fan speeds. If your Kraken cooler is not detecting, we recommend reading the following help article: https://support.nzxt.com/hc/en-us/articles/11044527568027
