Important Safeguards

When using electrical appliances, basic important safeguards should always be followed, including the following:

• Read all instructions.
• At least one copy of this manual should be kept in a location available at all times to maintenance and management staff.
• Do not use outdoors.
• Do not let the cord hang over the edge of the table or counter, or touch hot surfaces.
• The appliance is intended to prepare beverages according to these instructions.
• WARNING: risks of injuries if you don’t use this appliance correctly.
• This appliance should only be used for the intended purpose.
• This appliance is only meant for indoor use, under non-extreme temperature conditions.
• The appliance must not be used, cleaned, or maintained by children under 8 years of age unless supervised, instructed by an adult on how to use the appliance safely, and fully informed regarding the dangers involved.
• Keep appliances, power cords, and capsule holders out of reach of children.
• This appliance may be used by persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or whose experience or knowledge is not sufficient, provided they are supervised or have received instruction to use the device safely and understand the dangers.
• Only use capsules intended for this appliance: If the capsule does not fit, do not force the capsule into the appliance.
• WARNING: to avoid the risk of injury, do not open the brew chamber during the brew process.
• The machine contains magnets.

Avoid the risk of fatal electrical shock and fire to protect against fire, electric shock, and injury to persons.

• If the supply cord or the plug is damaged, they must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent, or similarly qualified persons.
• If the supply cord or the plug is damaged, do not operate the appliance. Only return the appliance to the Nespresso Club or to a Nespresso authorized representative.
• To disconnect, turn the machine “OFF”, then remove the plug from the outlet.
• To avoid hazardous damage, never place the appliance on or beside hot surfaces such as radiators, stoves,  ovens, gas burners, open flames, or similar.
• Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
• Disconnect from the outlet before cleaning. Allow to cool before adding or removing parts, and before cleaning the appliance.
• Do not use any strong cleaning agent  or solvent cleaner
• Use a damp cloth and mild cleaning agent to clean the surface of the appliance.
• Do not use a steam or pressure cleaner to clean the appliance. This will damage the appliance and may create a life-threatening hazard.
• Always follow the cleaning iinstructionsto clean your appliance.
• Never immerse the cord, plug, appliance, or any part of it in water or any other liquid.
• Electricity and water together are dangerous and can lead to fatal electric shocks.
• Do not put anything else than specified capsules into any openings, doing so may cause fire or electric  shock
• The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the appliance manufacturer may result in fire, electric shock, or injury.

Avoid possible harm when operating the appliance.

• Risk of scalding by hot liquids. If the machine is forced open hot liquids and coffee grounds may splash. Always lock the system completely and never open it during operation.
• Be careful, capsule is hot. Risk of scalding. If a capsule is blocked in the capsule compartment, turn the machine off and unplug it before any operation. Call the Nespresso Club or Nespresso authorized representative for assistance.

• The manufacturer accepts no responsibility for and the warranty will not apply to any commercial use, inappropriate handling or use of the appliance, damage resulting from use for other purposes, faulty operation, non-professional repair, or failure to comply with the instructions.

Avoid the risk of fatal electrical shock and fire to protect against fire, electric shock, and injury to persons.

• In case of emergency: immediately remove the plug from the power outlet.
• Only plug the appliance into suitable, easily accessible, grounded outlets.  Make sure that the voltage of the power source is the same as that specified on the rating plate.
• The use of an incorrect voltage or frequency of electricity voids the warranty.
• The appliance must only be  connected after installation
• Do not pull the cord over sharp edges, clamp it, or allow it to hang down.
• Keep the cord away from heat and moisture.
• If an extension lead is required, use only a grounded power cord with a conductor cross-section with matching input 16 AWG (1.3 mm2 ).
• Always place the appliance on a horizontal, stable, hard, even surface that does not allow for water accumulation under the machine.
• The surface must be resistant to heat and fluids, like water, coffee, descaler, or similar.
• Disconnect the appliance from the power outlet when not in use for a long period.
• Disconnect by pulling out the plug; do not pull on the cord itself to avoid damage.
• Never touch the cord with wet hands.
• Never put the appliance or part of it in a dishwasher.
• Do not open the appliance. Hazardous voltage inside!
• Do not dismantle the appliance.

• Never leave the appliance unattended during operation.
• Do not use the appliance if it is damaged or not operating perfectly. Immediately remove the plug from the power outlet.
• Contact the Nespresso Club or Nespresso authorized representative for examination, repair, or adjustment.
• A damaged appliance can cause electric shocks, burns, and fire.
• Do not put your fingers under the coffee outlet; risk of scalding.
• Do not insert fingers into the capsule compartment when the machine head is closing; risk of injury.
• Do not put fingers into the capsule compartment or capsule shaft; risk  of injury
• Water could flow around a capsule when not perforated by the blades and damage the appliance.
• Be careful not to injure yourself on sharp points or trap your fingers when reaching inside the machine. Beware of hot liquids when reaching inside the machine.
• Never use an already used, damaged, or deformed capsule.
• Always fill the water tank with fresh drinking water.
• Do not use any other liquids (such as cow’s milk, soya milk, enriched milk, flavored liquids, etc.).
• Do not overfill the water tank.
• Empty water tank if the appliance will not be used for an extended time (holidays, etc.).
• Replace water in the water tank when the appliance is not operated during a weekend or a similar period.
• Do not use the appliance without a cup placed at a suitable level and ensure the cup support is in place after any usage, to avoid spilling any liquid on surrounding surfaces or connector.
• Do not pour water or other liquids into the brewing unit.
• Keep appliances, capsules, and accessories out of reach of children.
• This appliance is designed for Nespresso Vertuo coffee capsules available exclusively through the Nespresso Club or your Nespresso authorized representative.
• All Nespresso appliances pass stringent controls.
• Reliability tests under practical conditions are randomly performed on selected units. Some units can therefore show traces of previous use.
• Nespresso reserves the right to change instructions without prior notice.

Short cord instructions.

• Use the power cord supplied with the device in an unmodified form. It is important for user safety that the appliance is only used with a suitably grounded electrical supply.
• A short power supply cord detachable power supply cord is to be provided to reduce risks resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord. The appliance is provided with an attached cord.
• Extension cords are available and may be used if care is exercised in their use.
• If a long detachable power cord or extension cord is used:
• The marked electrical rating of the detachable power cord or extension should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the appliance.
• The longer cord should be arranged so that it will not dangle over the countertop or tabletop, where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over.
• The appliance is grounded and only grounded extension cord should be used (type 3-wire cord).
• The appliance has a grounded plug  (two blades and one round pin)
• To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug is intended to fit into a grounded outlet only one way.
• If the plug does not fit fully into the outlet, reverse the plug.
• If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician.
• Do not attempt to modify the plug in any way.

Descaling

• The descaling solution can be harmful. Avoid contact with eyes, skin, and surfaces.
• Nespresso descaling agent, when used correctly, helps to ensure the proper functioning of your machine over its lifetime and that your coffee experience is as perfect as on the firstt day. For instructions on how to descale, consult the section “Descaling” in the Quick Start Guide.
• Any servicing other than cleaning and user maintenance should be performed by an authorized service representative.

NOTE:
this equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, under part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This equipment generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used by the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications.

However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation. If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct interference by one or more of the following measures:

• Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna.
• Increase the separation between the equipment and the receiver.
• Connect the equipment to an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is connected.
• Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician for help.

Unboxing:
some dust may be present on the surface of the machine due to the recycled materials used in the packaging. This is not dangerous, simply clean it with soft tissue.

Pairing
Please remember that the Bluetooth® mode must be activated beforehand on your smartphone or tablet. To benefit from all features, pair your machine with your smartphone or tablet and connect it to Wi-Fi, following the instructions via the App.

First use or after a long period of non-use

1. Rinse and clean the water tank and the lid before filling it only with fresh drinking water. Put the water tank in place and make sure it’s properly attached.
2. Ensure the capsule container and the cup support (if necessary for the selected cup size) are in place. For your safety, operate the machine only with a cup and capsule container in position.
3. Plug in the power cord.
4. For an optimized heating time, close and lock the machine to turn the machine ON. If the machine is already closed and locked, turn the machine ON by pressing the button.
5. Light will blink while the machine is heating up.  Steady light indicates the machine is ready.
6. Place a container of at least 34 fl oz. / 1 L under the coffee outlet.
7. Make sure that the machine is still locked. Press the button 3 times within 2 seconds to start cleaning and let the cleaning procedure complete automatically. It will take less than 2 minutes before the start of the flow.
8. This operation may take up to 7 minutes. The procedure can be stopped at any time by pushing the button. Once the cleaning is finished, a steady light will appear on the machine. In case you want to resume the cleaning process, push the button again.

Programming the water volume

1. The programming is specific to each capsule type, Alto, Mug, Gran Lungo, Double Espresso,o, or Espresso. Cup sizes may be programmed from 0.7 fl oz. / 20 ml to 17 fl oz. / 500 ml.
2. Open the machine head; insert the capsule you want to program; close the head; lock the machine.
3. Light will blink while the machine is heating up. Steady light indicates the machine is ready.
4. Push and hold the button until the desired volume is reached.
5. The water volume level is now stored for the capsule type used for the programming.

CAUTION:
caution should be exercised when plugging in the coffee machine with the button pressed. Small quantities of steam may emit from the machine as it evacuates the remaining liquids.

Limited warranty

Nespresso guarantees this product against defects in materials and workmanship for one year. The guarantee period begins on the date of purchase and Nespresso requires the presentation of the original proof of purchase to ascertain the date. During the guarantee period, Nespresso will either repair or replace, at its discretion, any defective product at no charge to the owner.

Replacement products or repaired parts will be warranted only for the unexpired portion of the original guarantee or six months, whichever is greater. This limited guarantee does not apply to any defect resulting from negligence, accident, misuse, or any other reason beyond Nespresso’s reasonable control, including but not limited to normal wear and tear, negligence or failure to follow the product instructions, improper or inadequate maintenance, calcium deposits or descaling, connection to improper power supply, unauthorized product modification or repair, use for commercial purposes, fire, lightning, flood or other external causes.

This guarantee is valid only in the country of purchase or other countries where Nespresso sells or services the same model with identical technical specifications. Guarantee service outside the country of purchase is limited to the terms and conditions of the corresponding guarantee in the country of service. Should the cost of repairs or replacement not be covered by this guarantee, Nespresso will advise the owner and the cost shall be charged to the owner.

Save for losses that cannot be limited or excluded as a matter of law, performance by Nespresso of the obligations imposed on Nespresso herein shall be the full extent of Nespresso’s liability under this guarantee.

Except to the extent allowed by applicable law, the terms of this limited guarantee do not exclude, restrict, or modify the mandatory statutory rights applicable to the sale of this product and are in addition to those rights.
