This equipment has been designed and manufactured to meet international safety standards but, like any electrical equipment, care must be taken if you are to obtain the best results and safety is to be assured.

  • Do read the operating instructions before you attempt to use the equipment.
  • Do ensure that all electrical connections (including the mains plug, extension leads, and interconnections between pieces of equipment) are properly made and in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. Switch off and withdraw the mains plug when making or changing connections.
  • Do consult your dealer if you are ever in doubt about the installation, operation, or safety of your equipment.
  • Do be careful with glass panels or doors on equipment.
  • DON’T continue to operate the equipment if you are in any doubt about it working normally, or if it is damaged in any way – switch it off – withdraw the mains plug, and consult your dealer.
  • DON’T remove any fixed cover as this may expose dangerous voltages. DON’T leave equipment switched on when it is unattended unless it is specifically stated that it is designed for unattended operation or has a standby mode.
    Switch off using the switch on the equipment and make sure that your family knows how to do this.
    Special arrangements may need to be made for infirm or handicapped people.
  • DON’T use equipment such as personal stereos or radios so that you are distracted from the requirements of traffic safety. It is illegal to watch television whilst driving.
  • DON’T listen to headphones at high volume as such use can permanently damage your hearing.
  • DON’T obstruct the ventilation of the equipment, for example with curtains or soft furnishings. Overheating will cause damage and shorten the life of the equipment. DON’T use makeshift stands and NEVER fix legs with wood screws. To ensure complete safety always fit the manufacturer’s approved stand or legs with the fixings provided according to the instructions.
  • DON’T allow electrical equipment to be exposed to rain or moisture.

  • NEVER let anyone, especially children, push anything into holes, slots, or any other opening in the case. This could result in a fatal electrical shock.
  • NEVER guess or take chances with electrical equipment of any kind. It is better to be safe than sorry!

  • Do not listen at high volume for an extended period. Do not use it while driving or cycling.
  • Pay special attention to the traffic around you when using the headphones outside. Failure to do so could result in an accident.

This product with a built-in battery shall not be exposed to excessive heat such as sunshine, fire, or the like.

CAUTION

To reduce the risk of electrical shocks, fire, etc.

  • Do not remove the cover or cabinet.
  • Do not disassemble or modify the unit.
  • Do not allow flammable, water, or metallic objects to enter the unit.

For your safety

  • Stop using the headphones if they are causing great discomfort or irritation on the skin and the ears. They may damage your skin and cause rash or inflammation.
  • If the earpiece or other parts of headphones become lodged in your ear, be careful not to push it deep into the ear canal and seek skilled medical assistance to remove the piece. Damage to the ear may be caused by non-professionals attempting to remove the piece.
  • Store the earpieces in a safe place where children cannot reach them to avoid the risk of a possible accident or hazard such as swallowing them.
  • In dryer air conditions such as in winter, you may feel some static shock when using the headphones.
  • When in use you may sometimes hear friction noise, this is caused by the cord rubbing against your clothing while walking or during exercise.

Avoid using the headphones

Precautions for use

  • Do not use any USB cables other than the ones provided.
  • Do not use supplied USB cables for any other equipment.
  • Be careful not to apply the power that exceeds the headphones’ input capacity. This may result in sound distortion and could damage the oscillation board.
  • These headphones are compliant with IPX4. Do not submerge them in water.
  • Be sure to close the USB terminal cover during use.

Wearing the headphones

  1. Be sure to use the correct earpiece for the left and right ear.
  2. The medium-size silicone earpieces are attached when purchased.

About the earpieces
Two types of ear pieces are provided: standard type ear pieces, and open type ear pieces that make it easier to hear external sounds. Use the most suitable earpieces for your listening environment.JVC HA-EBT5-E Wireless Headphones-fig 2

CAUTION

  • Although the open-type earpieces are designed so that external sounds can be heard well, make sure that you pay sufficient attention to your surroundings while using them.
  • Do not turn up the volume so high that you cannot hear the sound around you.

For replacing the earpieces

  • Attach the ear pieces firmly when replacing them; failure to do so may result in the ear pieces getting lodged in your ear canal when removed, thus becoming a possible health hazard.

Charging the System
Using the supplied USB cable, connect the System and a commercially available USB conversion adapter or a computer while the computer is on. The LED lights up in red and charging starts. When charging is complete, the indicator goes out. The charging time is approx. 2.5 hours.

  • Use only the supplied USB cable to charge the System.
  • Operation is not possible while charging.

Turning on the System
Press and hold MFB for about 3 seconds. The LED flashes blue once, and the System turns on.

Turning off the System
Press and hold MFB for about 3 seconds. The LED flashes red once, and the System turns off.

Auto Power Save
If no BLUETOOTH device is connected for about 5 minutes, the System automatically turns itself off.

Connecting a BLUETOOTH device to System

  1. Turn the System off.
  2. Press and hold MFB for 7 seconds or more.
  3. Turn on the BLUETOOTH device and enable pairing.
  4. Select “EBT5” from the list of devices.
  5. Verify that the LED on the System flashes blue.
