Can they support bulky volumes without bending?
The 31-inch modern shelf, which is longer, has some bowing. From the sides to the centre of the modern shelf, it is about 1/16 of an inch. To lessen the bowing, we’re thinking about adding support in the rear. Because they are better supported, the middle and bottom shelves don’t appear to be bowing. The 15-inch modern shelf doesn’t appear to be bowing in any way. Each Versatile bookshelf is fairly hefty because we have many books on it.
Will this accommodate storage cubes?
if they’re tiny. 10 to 12 inches deep, roughly.
Would this Versatile bookshelf mount flush against my wall even though I have floor mouldings?
The bottom is not carved off in any way. As far from the wall as your mouldings are deep, your shelf will be.
IKEA Billy bookcases are being used to form a library from wall to wall. but only one of them might be wider than 14 inches. Can it be trimmed to make it narrower?
I attempted to chop one. Things went horribly. In the end, I gave each portion its own gap by spacing the pieces. then using 1×4 (really 3) trim to fill the gap. I used the same design for the kickboard and crown moulding. worked out perfectly.
Can you disassemble it to move it?
As it arrives unassembled, it would seem that you should be able to disassemble it to transfer it without any issues. Although I believe there hasn’t been a need for us to relocate to the home we bought.
It’s broken, my bookcase?
