FAQ About HOMEDEPOT W1WCR4986SS 86.6 Inch Telescoping Stainless Steel Window Curtain Rod

How do you define a telescopic curtain rod?

Telescoping curtain rods can be either aesthetic or functional and are adjustable in length when installed with brackets. A plain traversing rod is the most popular type of telescopic rod that is not ornamental. Telescoping rods give you versatility when covering windows with various spans.

How is a telescoping curtain rod adjusted?

When the distance between the two tabs that protrude from either end of the curtain rod equals the size of the window opening, spin the rod clockwise or anticlockwise while holding it with one hand at each end.

How many inches past the window should the curtain rod extend?

Also, make sure the curtain rod you select is wider than your window. This makes it possible to pull curtains all the way to the side of the window and gives the room a bigger appearance. To allow for 4 to 6 inches on either side, the rod itself should be 8 to 12 inches longer than the window’s width.

What size window should I use curtain rods for?

48 to 84 inches. The ideal curtain rod size is 48 to 84 inches because the average room window is between 24 and 48 inches wide and is typically installed in pairs.

Should curtains reach the floor?

Do curtains need to touch the floor then? The quick response is generally yes. But, it’s crucial to take into account every aspect of style and functionality when choosing your window treatments, whether they are drapes, blinds, or shades, in order to select the one that is best for your windows and your house.

Where should a curtain rod be mounted?

The best-looking and most effective rod for most rooms is one with ornate finials that is put on the wall outside of the window frame. Give the window a space of about 3 inches on each side. Make a pencil mark on the wall to denote this location. By doing this, you’ll ensure that you have enough light.

What size curtain rod is most typical?

The length of typical curtains is 96 inches, though the size varies depending on the window. Sometimes the single size is referred to as 95 inches or 96 inches. The window determines the curtain’s width.

What shade of curtains rod makes a space cheery?

Choose lighter-colored drapes. When you try to lighten the room to make it feel brighter, heavy curtains make the space feel dark. And pay attention to the lighter curtain colors. Any space can become airier by adding a warm yellow or light blue. You want your curtains to provide seclusion while also helping to distribute light in your space.
