IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS

When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed as below:

  1. Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs if applicable.
  2. Be careful of hot steam coming from the lid vents.
  3. Do not leave electrical appliances unattended when in use.
  4. Always put the appliance on a clean, level surface that can withstand the weight of the brewer – including water.
  5. Remove all packaging plastics and other materials from the unit before operating.
  6. Wash all removable accessories before using them for the first time.
  7. To protect against electrical shock, do not immerse the cord, plug, or appliance itself in water or other liquids.
  8. Never attempt to move the appliance when it is full of hot or cold water.
  9. Close supervision is necessary when the appliance is used by or near children.
  10. Unplug from the outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before putting on or taking off parts.
  11. Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance malfunctions or has been damaged in any manner. Return the appliance to the nearest authorized service facility for examination, repair, or adjustment.
  12. The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the appliance manufacturer may cause injuries.
  13. Do not use outdoors.
  14. Do not let the cord hang over the edge of the table or counter or touch hot surfaces.
  15. Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.
  16. Always attach the plug to the appliance first, then plug the cord into a wall outlet. To disconnect, turn any control to the OFF position, then remove the plug from the wall outlet.
  17. Oversized foods or metal utensils must not be inserted into the appliance as they may cause a fire or risk of electrical shock.
  18. When in operation, a fire may occur if the appliance is covered or touching flammable material including curtains, draperies, walls, and the like.
  19. Do not clean with metal scouring pads. Pieces can break off the pad and touch electrical parts, causing a risk of electrical shock.
  20. Extreme caution should be exercised when using containers constructed of other materials other than metal or glass.
  21. Do not store any materials other than the manufacturer’s recommended accessories in this unit when not in use.
  22. Do not place any of the following materials in the unit: Paper, cardboard, plastic, and other similar items.

SHORT CORD PURPOSE
If an extension cord is used: (1) the marked electrical rating of the extension cord should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the product; (2) the extension cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the countertop or tabletop where it can unintentionally be pulled on or tripped over by children or pets.

POLARIZED PLUG
If the plug still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Never use the plug with an extension cord unless the plug can be fully inserted into the extension cord. Do not alter the plug of the product or any extension cord being used with this product. Do not attempt to defeat the safety purpose of the polarized plug.

BEFORE FIRST USE

  1. Read all instructions and important safeguards.
  2. Remove all packaging materials; make sure all your items are received in good condition.
  3. Wash all the accessories with warm soapy water using a sponge or dishcloth.
  4. Rinse thoroughly to remove soapy residue.
  5. Wipe the body clean with a damp cloth.

HOW TO USE

  1. Place the appliance upright on a dry, sturdy, flat surface.
  2. Set coarsely ground coffee aside.
  3. Remove the filter basket and stem. Fill the brewer with cold water (40 cups max.) by the amount of coffee needed. See the coffee measuring chart on page 6.
  4. Place the stem into the heating unit at the bottom of the coffee brewer, then place the filter basket on the stem. Spread the recommended amount of ground coffee evenly into the basket. Do not use drip or finely ground coffee as flooding of the basket may occur.
  5. Use a standard measuring cup (250ml) for measuring coffee. The amount recommended will produce mild coffee. Adjust the amount of coffee depending on individual preference.
  6. To make tea, follow the same instructions: substitute tea leaves or tea bags for coffee in the basket and add water to the desired level.
  7. Twist the “Lock-on-lid” in place on the coffee brewer. Make sure the lid has been turned clockwise until it is completely locked into the handle slots.
  8. Plug the cord into a wall outlet and the coffee brewer will start making coffee. Allow approximately 1 ~ 11/2 minutes per cup brewing time.
  9. When the coffee is done brewing, the coffee maker will switch to keep warm automatically to keep the coffee inside at a suitable temperature. The indicator light will turn on.
  10. Before serving, use a protective hot pad or wear mitts to unlock the lid and carefully remove the filter basket and stem from the coffee maker.
  11. After use, unplug the coffeemaker and follow the Care and Cleaning instructions.
  12. Before brewing a second time, allow the brewer to cool and rinse it out.

HELPFUL TIPS

  1. Make at least 12 cups at one time to ensure the best coffee flavor. Never make less than the minimum capacity or more than the maximum capacity of the coffee brewer.
  2. Do not use finely ground coffee as flooding of the coffee basket can occur.
  3. Remove the coffee basket and grounds as soon as the brewing cycle is completed. This also helps maintain coffee flavor.
  4. If dripping occurs between the faucet and the coffee brewer body, tighten the nut inside the coffee brewer. If the dripping occurs from the faucet spout, tighten the faucet bonnet

SAFETY CUT OFF

Boil dry accidents are the result of boiling all the water out of a brewer. To prevent boil-dry accidents, this appliance is equipped with a thermal limiter with an automatic reset. If the water in the tank is completely boiled away, the appliance will turn itself off. Let the brewer tool down for about half an hour and then fill it with cold water, and the brewer will start again. Operators are advised to turn the appliance off when not in use, especially overnight.

CLEANING & MAINTENANCE

  1. Clean the coffee basket, stem, and lid in warm soapy water with a soft dishcloth, rinse, and dry. Use a soft damp cloth to scour the stains or residues of the lid by using a non-abrasive cleaner.
  2. To clean the interior of the coffee maker: fill the coffee maker at least 1/3 full with hot water and add one drop of liquid dishwashing detergent. Wash with a soft dishcloth and rinse thoroughly with warm water.
  3. To clean the heating well (the hole that the stem fits into): Clean the heating well thoroughly with a scouring pad to remove coffee residue. If not cleaned properly and thoroughly, the coffee maker may stop percolating due to the build-up of coffee residue.
  4. Wipe the body dry with a soft dishcloth.
