Getting Started with Your LONGLAST® Filter

Thank you for choosing Brita®, the world’s No. 1 brand of household water filtration. Brita’s certified water filtration systems turn ordinary tap water into cleaner, great-tasting drinking water. At Brita, we believe small steps can make a big difference, and each of us can do our part to drive positive change. By switching from drinking bottled water to using reusable bottles with your Brita® pitcher or dispenser, you can generate less waste* and save money. This User’s Guide is for the Brita® LONGLAST® filter (model #OB06). For Brita® standard filter (model #OB03) user instructions, visit www.brita.com (U.S.A.) or  www.brita.ca (Canada) or refer to instructions provided in Brita® standard filter replacement packs.

FILTER PREPARATION INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Wash your hands with soap and water, then remove the filter from the filter bag.
  2. Hand-wash pitcher/dispenser, lid, and reservoir periodically with a mild detergent. Do not wash in the dishwasher. Do not use abrasive cleaners. Rinse well.
  3. Insert the filter into the reservoir by lining up the groove in the filter with a ridge in the reservoir. Press firmly for a tight seal. Fill the reservoir with cold tap water.† Discard your first three pitchers or first dispenser of filtered water, or use it to water plants.
  4. Be sure to activate the electronic indicator. Please refer to the Filter Change Indicator instructions.

IMPORTANT NOTES
For best results when filling the pitcher/dispenser reservoir, pour tap water on the side of the reservoir rather than directly on top of the filter. Allow water to filter completely before pouring or refilling the reservoir. The Brita® LONGLAST® filter keeps a healthy level of fluoride, a water additive that promotes strong teeth (applies to fluoridated municipal tap water). To register your system and to find more information on product usage, filter, product recycling, and new products from Brita, visit www.brita.com (U.S.A.) or www.brita.ca/register (Canada).

  • No bottles to throw away
  • Hot water should not be used with the Brita® LONGLAST® Filter (Max. 85°F/29°C – Min. 32°F/0°C).

Filter Change Indicator (Dual Mode)

INDICATOR INSTRUCTIONS (TO BE DONE WHEN INSTALLING A NEW FILTER)
Reset your filter change indicator every time you replace your filter. Filter replacement is essential for the product to perform as represented.

  1. To reset the indicator, press the STATUS button and hold it down. This system comes with a Brita® LONGLAST® filter (blue). Hold down the STATUS button for 6 seconds. Do not release until the green light next to LONGLAST® FILTER has blinked green three times by itself. This indicates that the LONGLAST® filter mode (120 gallons) has been selected. If using the standard Brita® filter (white), hold down the STATUS button for 2 seconds and then release. All lights will blink simultaneously twice, and then the green light next to STANDARD FILTER will blink three times by itself. This indicates that the standard filter mode (40 gallons) has been selected.
  2. If you accidentally select the incorrect mode, repeat the step 1 instructions above until you successfully select the mode that correlates with the filter being used.
  3. When using your pitcher/dispenser, open the Fill Lid completely. Always fill the reservoir with water to the provided “Max Fill” line. Close the Fill Lid.*
  4. Check filter life status at any time by pressing the Status button for 1 second and releasing. The light corresponding to the current filter status will blink for 1 second.
  5. The indicator light will also blink after each time you fill the reservoir and close the Fill Lid. A blinking green light indicates that the filter is good.
  6. When 0% of the filter life remains, the red light next to REPLACE will blink, indicating the filter should be replaced.
  7. Replace the filter and reset the indicator (see step 1).

IMPORTANT

Brita Ultra Max Large Water Dispenser 3

  • ONLY keep the FILL LID open for more than 5 seconds IF you are filling the reservoir with water.*
  • ALWAYS wait until the reservoir is empty before refilling.*

Filter performance is not certified after the life of the filter (40 gallons for a standard filter and 120 gallons for Brita® LONGLAST®). Changing your filter regularly helps ensure you have cleaner, great-tasting water. The indicator contains a nonreplaceable, sealed battery. After several years of use, the indicator will stop working, but the pitcher/dispenser is still functional. Continue to change the filter regularly as directed.†

  • The filter change indicator is activated when the lid is opened for 5–8 seconds (based on the size of the reservoir) for pitcher models and 16 seconds for dispensers. It measures water use by counting the number of times the reservoir is filled. Always fill to the max line to ensure accuracy, and open the reservoir lid only when filling the reservoir with water. Filter change indicator logic does not account for product misuse.
  • Standard Brita® filter should be replaced after 40 gallons/151 liters (about 2 months for the average family). Brita® LONGLAST® filter should be replaced after 120 gallons/454 liters (about 6 months for the average family). You may need to change your filter more or less often, depending on the amount of water you consume. Filter change indicator logic does not account for product misuse.

Remember

  • For maximum efficiency, filter no more than 2 gallons (7.5 liters) daily.
  • We recommend that you store your Brita® system in the refrigerator to get cold, great-tasting water. If you would like to keep your Brita® system outside of the refrigerator, we recommend that you keep it in a cool area that is not in direct sunlight and replace any filtered water that has been left sitting for several days or more. This will help make sure you get refreshing, great-tasting Brita® water.
  • For best results when filling the pitcher/dispenser reservoir, pour tap water onto the side of the reservoir rather than directly on top of the filter.
  • Visit www.brita.com (U.S.A.) or www.brita.ca (Canada) to find out where you can purchase replacement filters.

Filter performance may vary based on local water conditions. The Brita® LONGLAST® filter is not intended to purify water. Do not use water that is microbiologically unsafe or of unknown quality without adequate disinfection before or after the system. Individuals requiring water of special microbiological purity should follow the advice of their doctor or local health officials regarding the use and consumption of their tap water and Brita-filtered water.

The compounds certified under NSF/ANSI 401 have been deemed as “incidental contaminants/emerging compounds.” Incidental contaminants are those compounds that have been detected in drinking water supplies at trace levels. While occurring at only trace levels, these compounds can affect the public acceptance/perception of drinking water quality. Hot water should not be used with the Brita® LONGLAST® filter (Max. 85°F/29°C – Min. 32°F/0°C).
