Safety and Handling
See “Safety and Handling” in the Getting Started with Apple Studio Display guide.
Safety Information
Failure to follow the safety instructions below could result in fire, electric shock, or other injuries, or damage to your Studio Display or other property. Read all the safety information below before using your Studio Display.
Handling
Set up your Studio Display on a hard, stable work surface that allows for adequate air circulation under and around it. Never push objects into the ventilation openings. Your Studio Display can be damaged if dropped, burned, punctured, or crushed, or if it comes in contact with liquids, oils, and lotions. Don’t use a damaged Studio Display, such as one with a cracked screen, as it may cause injury.
Mounting Solutions
Caution: Keep hands and fingers away from the moving parts of the stand to avoid pinching.
If you’re using a Studio Display with a built-in VESA mount adapter, read the Studio Display with VESA mount adapter Setup Guide before you begin. Also read all the installation instructions and safety information that came with your VESA-compliant 100 x 100 mm mounting solution before attaching it to the VESA mount adapter.
Important: Agency Compliance Information and the serial number are marked on the bottom of the stand of your Studio Display or the side of your built-in VESA mount adapter and may be obscured when using the VESA mount adapter with some mounting solutions.
Power
Unplug the power cord (by pulling the plug, not the cord) and disconnect all cables if any of the following conditions exist:
- The power cord or plug becomes frayed or otherwise damaged.
- You spill something onto the display.
- Your Studio Display is exposed to rain or excessive moisture.
- Your Studio Display has been dropped, or the case has been damaged.
- You suspect that your Studio Display needs service or repair.
- You want to clean your Studio Display.
The only way to turn off the power completely is to unplug the power cord from the wall outlet. Make sure the power cord is within easy reach so that you can unplug your Studio Display when you need to.
Your AC cord has a three-wire grounding plug (a plug that has a grounding pin). This plug fits only a grounded AC outlet. If you’re unable to insert the plug into an outlet because the outlet isn’t grounded, contact a licensed electrician to replace the outlet with a properly grounded one. Do not defeat the purpose of the grounding pin.
Precautions
A display may fall, causing serious personal injury or death. Many injuries, particularly to children, can be avoided by taking simple precautions such as:
- Follow the instructions by the manufacturer when using a stand or adapter for mounting the display.
- Always use furniture that can safely support your Studio Display.
- Always ensure your Studio Display is not overhanging the edge of supporting furniture.
- Always educate children about the dangers of climbing on furniture to reach your Studio Display.
- Always route cords and cables connected to your Studio Display so that they cannot be tripped over pulled over, or grabbed.
- Always keep hands and fingers away from the moving parts of the stand to avoid being pinched.
- Never place your Studio Display in an unstable location.
- Never place your Studio Display on tall furniture (for example, cupboards or bookcases) without anchoring both the furniture and the Studio Display to a suitable support.
- Never place your Studio Display on cloth or other materials that may be located between the Studio Display and supporting furniture.
- Never place items on or around your Studio Display that might tempt children to climb on top of the display or the furniture on which it’s placed.
Ventilation
Don’t block the bottom or top ventilation opening of your Studio Display. Don’t place the Studio Display where ventilation is restricted (for example, in a cabinet).
Temperature
Don’t expose the Studio Display to excessive temperatures (ambient operating temperature should be 50º to 95º F or 10º to 35º C), moisture, or humidity. The Studio Display is not recommended for outside use.
Clean the Display
If your Studio Display has nano-texture glass, clean it only using the included polishing cloth. If your Studio Display has standard glass, you can clean it using a dampened microfiber cloth. Do not use furniture cleaner, glass cleaner, disinfecting wipes, hand sanitizer, or any other type of solvent.
