BEFORE FIRST USE

This portable icemaker uses a fully automatic control system, with an advanced microcomputer for easy and convenient ice-making. Making ice is simple and fast. Just add water, plug into an outlet, and press the ON button. You can select one of the two ice cube sizes with the touch of a button. When first turning on the unit or during icemaking cycles, the compressor will stay idle for 3 minutes, while energizing. There are warning indicators that alert you to fill the water when the reservoir is empty and to remove ice when the storage basket is full. The icemaker also has built-in safeguards that can limit accidental damage, automatically shutting down the system when necessary.

Please read carefully

  1. The incline angle of the icemaker cabinet should not exceed 45˚ during transportation or use. Do not turn the icemaker upside down. Doing so could cause the compressor or refrigerating system to operate incorrectly. When the icemaker is moved or transported, please allow time for the fluids in the compressor to settle. Before using the icemaker for the first time, please wait 2 hours after the unit has been leveled and positioned in its proper place.
  2. Please ensure the icemaker is level and on a stable table or platform to avoid malfunction.
  3. The machine must be placed on a dry and level surface with sufficient ventilation, far from heat sources such as ovens, heaters, and corrosive gases. Leave an 8-inch clearance on all sides of the icemaker for proper ventilation.
  4. Do not fill the water reservoir with hot water. This may damage the icemaker. It is best to fill the water reservoir with water at room temperature or lower.

USE YOUR ICE MAKER

  1. Remove the cover of the water reservoir and pour potable water into the water reservoir. And be sure to keep the water level below the max. level with the FULL mark displayed in the following picture. Then move back the cover at once to avoid foreign matter entering.Frigidaire EFIC450 Freestanding Ice Maker User Manual-2
Warning: Do not pour the water into the internal water tank located underneath the ice basket. This tank is not big enough and will affect the ice-making performance.
  2. Plug on the main power supply plug. Then press the “ON/OFF” button on the
control panel to begin the ice-making cycle.
Note: After you plug on but do not turn on the unit through the “ON/OFF” button, the green power indicator will always be on for 2 seconds, then flash for 3 seconds. But after you turn on the unit by pressing the “ON/OFF” button, the green power indicator will keep on lighting.
  3. The ice-making cycle lasts about 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the ambient temperature. And for the first time, according to the initial water temperature, ice-making last time will be a little longer. In extremely hot room temperatures, ice-making time may vary a lot, but it will not exceed 50 minutes.
Useful Information: After plugging in the unit, press the “ON/OFF” button for more than 5 seconds, then release it to start the unit, the unit will add 3 minutes more to each ice-making cycle automatically to thicken the ice cube. So if you desire to thicken your ice cube, please turn off your unit first, then press the “ON/OFF” button again for more than 5 seconds to turn on the unit again.
  4. While the ice-maker is on, verify the water level of the internal tank located underneath the ice basket periodically. If there is not enough water to last the ice-making cycle, the unit will automatically let the water flow from the big water reservoir downward to the internal tank to continue the ice-making process. If both the internal water tank and the big water reservoir do have not enough water, the ice maker will stop automatically, and the “Add Water” indicator will be on. Note: Check to be sure that both the water filters located at the bottom of the big water reservoir and the internal water tank are not blocked by dirty substances or some foreign matter. Second to fill the water up to a big water reservoir to the max. water level mark. After shipping or moving the unit, better to allow the refrigerant liquid inside the compressor at least 3 minutes to settle before restarting.
  5. The ice maker automatically stops working when the ice basket is full and the “Full Ice” indicator will be on.
  6. Change water in the water reservoir every 24 hours to ensure a reasonable hygiene level. If the unit isn’t in use for a long time, drain all water left in the water tank and water reservoir.

CLEANING AND MAINTAINING YOUR ICE MAKER

Before using your ice maker, it is strongly recommended to clean it thoroughly.

  1. Take out the ice basket.
  2. Clean the interior with diluted detergent, warm water, and a soft cloth.
  3. Then use the water to rinse the inside parts, and drain out the water from the draining port by unplugging the drain cap on the back.
  4. The outside of the ice maker should be cleaned regularly with a mild detergent solution and warm water.
  5. Dry the interior and exterior with a soft cloth.
  6. When the machine is not in use for a long time, open the water drain cap to drain water completely out from the water reservoir.

After using your ice maker for a long time, we also suggest you should clean your unit. Especially for the water separator pipe and the water filters, you must clean them periodically.

  1. If the water separator pipe is blocked and there is no water flowing down when you hear the compressor and the water pump inside are still working, please turn off the unit first disassemble this pipe, and clean it. Clean each hole on the pipe wall displayed in the following picture. After cleaning, install back the water separator pipe and be sure the right terminal of the pipe connects to the silicone pipe well and as original.Frigidaire EFIC450 Freestanding Ice Maker User Manual-3
  2. For both the water tank and the big water reservoir, clean them with diluted detergent, warm water, and a soft cloth. Then use the water to rinse the inside, and drain out the water from the draining port by unplugging the drain cap on the back. It will help you keep the unit and ice-cube hygienically, and also make the unit work normally.
  3. When cleaning, if find that the ice cube is left on the evaporator and can not be taken out easily, you can turn on the unit to let the unit enter the ice-making process, then press the “ON/OFF” button for more than 5 seconds to let the unit start ice harvest process to melt the ice cube. It will help you remove the hard ice cube.

How to drain out the water from the internal tank and big water reservoir completely
Because the water in the big water reservoir is stop to drain port by the water valves, if you want to drain away all the water, please plug on the unit but don’t start the unit, then remove the drain port cap at the back. Wait some minutes, all of the water will flow out.

FAQ about Frigidaire EFIC450 Freestanding Ice Maker

Q: Can I always leave my Frigidaire EFIC450 Freestanding Ice Maker on?

A: If you want ice, you must always keep it plugged in and running. If the unit is powered off the ice will melt and the water will return to the reservoir. This is just like your refrigerator or freezer in that it needs to be on all the time.

Q: How soon does a new Frigidaire ice maker begin to function?

A: The ice maker may create ice in less than 24 hours after the refrigerator is installed and has cooled for several hours. The ice bin will be topped off by the ice maker from the back. To move the ice forward in the bin, you must dispense some ice.

Q: Why isn’t my portable Frigidaire ice maker producing ice?

A: The water supply line may be obstructed if your ice maker has the appropriate amount of water but isn’t producing ice. If you haven’t cleaned the machine in a while, this could develop over time, especially if you have hard water, which can cause mineral accumulation.

Q: Are drains required for free-standing ice makers?

A: Water drainage: To remove extra water from the ice maker and melted ice from the ice storage bin, ice makers need a floor-level drain. If a floor level drain is not available and cannot be installed, then a drain pump will be required.

Q: When not in use, should you switch off the ice maker?

A: We advise turning off the water supply to the refrigerator and turning off the icemaker if you won’t be using your icemaker for a while (for a trip, storage, etc.). Make sure the icemaker is off if you switch off the water supply.

Q: Will the Frigidaire EFIC450 Freestanding Ice Maker turn off on its own?

A: The majority of ice makers are built to turn off automatically when the bucket is full and to turn back on when additional ice is required. Make sure the bucket and any shelf components are in the right positions if ice overflows and the appliance does not momentarily shut off.

Q: Why does making ice in an ice maker take 24 hours?

A: The ice machine and refrigerator need to be at the right temperature. The icemaker itself may require 24 hours to become cold enough to create ice if it has recently been installed. Before a cycle can start, the icemaker mould needs to reach 16 degrees Fahrenheit.

Q: When will the Frigidaire EFIC450 Freestanding Ice Maker start to fill up with water?

A: It will take 6 to 12 hours for the refrigerator-freezer’s ice maker to start making ice after it has been installed.

Q: Why does my Frigidaire EFIC450 Freestanding Ice Maker make ice so slowly?

A: Incorrect temperature setting, having too much or too little food inside, and a clogged water line or filter are the main causes of a slow ice maker inside of a freezer.

Q: Why won’t my Frigidaire EFIC450 Freestanding Ice Maker function?

A: Check the Frigidaire EFIC450 Freestanding Ice Maker switch if the refrigerator’s ice maker isn’t functioning. By accident, this switch is routinely turned off. If the switch is switched on but the ice maker still doesn’t function, use an Ohm meter to check the switch for continuity. Replacing as necessary

Q: Why does my water work but my Frigidaire EFIC450 Freestanding Ice Maker doesn’t?

A: If the water pressure is enough, check the water inlet valve’s power using a multimeter. Replace the water inlet valve if the ice maker won’t fill with water to make ice despite having sufficient pressure and power. The ice maker assembly may have a defective component.

Q: When the Frigidaire EFIC450 Freestanding Ice Maker is not working, what is wrong?

A: The Frigidaire EFIC450 Freestanding Ice Maker may shut off automatically or cease to function in various ways if there is a blockage, leak, or damage to the water line. Check for leaks, damage, or obstructions in the water supply tubing and ice maker inlet valve.

Q: What is the lifespan of standalone Frigidaire EFIC450 Freestanding Ice Maker?

A: A home Frigidaire EFIC450 Freestanding Ice Maker can last three to 10 years if properly maintained. How frequently you use the appliance, whether you perform the necessary maintenance, and the general quality of the device will all affect how long it lasts.

Q: How frequently should Frigidaire EFIC450 Freestanding Ice Maker be emptied?

A: Cleaning your Frigidaire EFIC450 Freestanding Ice Maker about every six months will keep your ice taste fresh; however, if you use your ice maker and dispenser more frequently, cleaning may be necessary more frequently. Generally speaking, you ought to clean your ice maker concurrently with cleaning your refrigerator and/or changing the water filter.

Q: When should Frigidaire EFIC450 Freestanding Ice Maker cease producing ice?

A: A sensor that is close by is monitoring the water’s temperature as it approaches a predetermined level (often around -12°C/10°F). The water is ready to be removed once it has frozen solidly and reached this temperature. Ice, however, is troublesome since you can’t simply tip it out because it adheres strongly to most surfaces.
