POWER SUPPLY CONNECTOR OVERUSE DEFINITION
A single PCIe 8-pin cable and connector’s maximum current rating is 12.5A, which is 150W (+12V x 12.5A). So SilverStone’s warranty will not cover damages or malfunction resulting from the use of a graphics card or expansion card with a single PCIe 8pin connector that exceeds the standard 225W total power draw (150W from PCIe 8pin connector + 75W from PCIe motherboard slot). Similarly, a graphics card or expansion card with dual PCIe 8pin connectors that exceed 375W total power draw (300W from two PCIe 8-pin connectors + 75W from PCIe motherboard slot) will also not be covered under warranty.
Peripheral (Molex) or SATA connector’s maximum current rating is 5A, which is 60W (+12V x 5A) or 25W (+5V x 5A). Please ensure connected devices are operating under these limits. SilverStone’s warranty will not cover damages or malfunction resulting from usage exceeding these connectors and their associated cables.
24pin motherboard connector’s maximum current rating for its dual +12V metal pins are 5A each, which totals 120W (+12V x 5A x 2). Please ensure +12V drawing devices connected to the motherboard are operating under these limits. SilverStone’s warranty will not cover damages or malfunction resulting from usage exceeding these connectors and their associated cables.
FAQs Silverstone Reference SFX Series Power Supply
What does the power supply term SFX mean?
SFX PSUs. Small Form Factor, or SFX, is a PSU standard made for smaller, space-constrained PCs with little room for cooling. Typically measuring 125 x 63.5 x 100 mm, SFX PSUs are smaller than ATX or EPS PSUs and can fit in some mini-ITX or micro-ATX cases.
Is SilverStone a reliable PSU brand?
Excellent PSUs are made by SilverStone. For the past ten years, I’ve utilized SilverStone Tek PSUs. One was installed in an Alienware box starting around 2005, and I purchased a second one in 2011 since I thought a PSU that had lasted in a powerful gaming PC for around 6 years was plenty for me.
What distinguishes the SFX and SFX-L power supplies?
An SFX-L PSU, the bigger version of the SFX, typically measures 125 x 125 x 63.5mm. SFX-L power supplies are made to be compact and can yet fit in cases as small as a micro-ATX.
What does SFX stand for?
The term “SFX” can refer to any special effect, but it is most frequently used to refer to sound effects in movies and television.
An SFX power supply’s depth is how deep?
The dimensions of a typical SFX power supply are 125mm 63.5mm x 100mm, not including the length of the PSU wires that protrude.
What does SFX’s entire name mean?
Illusions and special effects, typically visual, are utilized in entertainment and movies.
SFX technology: what is it?
A software program called SFX, which stands for special effects, makes it simple to build specific types of hypertext links within a collection of information, like the description of a library collection.
Can any case accommodate an SFX power supply?
The larger ATX cases should typically have no trouble accommodating an SFX PSU. However, it’s crucial to check the manufacturer’s specs as well as whether any adapters are required to install the PSU correctly if you’re using a smaller case, like an ITX or micro-ATX.
A modular power supply unit is what?
For your motherboard, CPU, GPU, and other devices, a power supply is an essential component that transforms AC power from the wall outlet to DC power.
What type of power supply does ATX use?
Advanced Technology Extended Power Supply is the abbreviation for this power supply. The motherboard and the CPU each have their own main power connector on the AT power supply.
