Set up your Steplight
- Download the Ring app.
The app walks you through setting up and managing your Ring Pathlight. Search for “Ring” in one of these app stores, or visit: ring.com/app
- Set up your Ring Bridge.
The Bridge connects your Ring Smart Lights to the Ring app and the rest of your Ring devices. To set up your Bridge, follow the instructions in the Ring app or the Bridge user manual.
- Insert the batteries.
Using a flathead screwdriver, remove the screws from the back and lift off the battery lid.
Then insert three C Cell batteries (not included), matching the flat ends with the springs.
- Set up your Steplight in the Ring app.
In the app, tap Set Up a Device. When prompted, select Smart Lights and follow the in-app instructions.
Install your Steplight.
- Insert screws.
Drive the two mounting screws, leaving ~1/4” exposed.
- Attach the lid.
Push the lid back onto your Steplight, and secure it with the screws you removed earlier.
- Mount Steplight.
Place your Steplight over the mounting screws and slide downward to lock it in place.
- Mark the screw holes.
Using the guide below, make a mark on the mounting surface below each arrow. If installing on a masonry surface, drill pilot holes and insert the included anchors.

Can Ring Smart Lighting be used without a bridge?
Yes. The Smart LED Lightbulbs can only be used as regular light bulbs without the Ring Bridge.
Is there a camera on the ring smart light?
No. With or without a Ring Protect subscription, all Ring Smart Lighting products provide smart controls.
How long does the life of a ring light?
Different estimated lifetimes are expected for Ring’s LEDs. Their new smart lights are anticipated to endure for more than 20,000 hours, while their cameras and floodlights are rated for 10–20 years of practical use.
Do Ring lights function offline?
Without a Wi-Fi connection, Ring Smart Lights will still turn on when they detect motion, but you won’t be able to manage them or receive push messages.
How does a phone’s ring light function?
Similar to regular ring lights, but considerably smaller and lacking a support or tripod, are attachable selfie ring lights. They attach to the top of your device with a clip, encircling the camera sensors.
Is wifi required for ring smart lighting?
To connect to the internet and communicate with the secure Ting servers, your Ting sensor needs a Wi-Fi connection.
