IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS

When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and/or injury to persons, including the following:

  1. Read all instructions.
  2. This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge unless they are closely supervised and instructed concerning the use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
  3. Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children. Children shall not make cleaning and user maintenance without supervision. Children should be supervised to ensure they do not play with the appliance.
  4. Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs. Care must be taken, as burns can occur from touching hot parts or spilled, hot liquid.
  5. To protect against electric shock, do not place a cord, plug, or coffee maker in water or other liquid.
  6. Unplug from the outlet when the coffee maker is not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before putting on or taking off parts and before cleaning the appliance.
  7. The coffee maker must be operated on a flat surface away from the edge of the counter to prevent accidental tipping.
  8. Do not operate any appliance with a damaged supply cord or plug, or after the appliance malfunctions or has been dropped or damaged in any manner. Supply cord replacement and repairs must be conducted by the manufacturer, its service agent, or similarly qualified persons to avoid a hazard. Customer Service for information on examination, repair, or adjustment as outlined in the Limited Warranty.
  9. The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the appliance manufacturer may cause injuries.
  10. Do not use outdoors.
  11. Do not let the cord hang over the edge of the table or counter or touch hot surfaces, including the stove.
  12. Do not place the coffee maker on or near a hot gas or electric burner or in a heated oven.
  13. To disconnect the appliance, turn the power switch to OFF (0) and then remove the plug from the wall outlet.
  14. WARNING! To reduce the risk of fire or electric shock, do not remove the bottom cover. No user-serviceable parts are inside. Repair should be done by authorized service personnel only.
  15. Do not use the appliance for other than intended use.
  16. Do not place the coffee maker in a cabinet when in use.
  17. CAUTION! Cut Hazard: Removable single-serve pod holder contains a sharp needle. Use caution when handling.
  18. CAUTION! Cut Hazard: The piercing needle is sharp. Use caution when cleaning.
  19. WARNING! To avoid hot water spraying from the piercing needle, do not lift the lid during the brewing process.

How to Make Espresso

  1. Fill the Removable Water Reservoir with water up to 56 oz. (1656 mL). Do not exceed the MAX fill line, and never let the water tank get below the MIN fill line.
  2. Place a cup on the Cup Rest with the Drip Tray, If needed, remove the Cup Rest, and align the tab on the Cup Rest with the Opening for the Cup Rest for a small espresso cup.
  3. Plug into an outlet.
  4. Press the Power Switch, located on the right-side panel, to the ON I position. NOTE: While preheating, lighted buttons will slowly fade in and out. When the lights stay on, the Coffee Maker is ready to brew.
  5. Lift Espresso Lid.
  6. Insert the espresso pod according to the cutout on top of the unit.
  7. Close Espresso Lid until fully latched.
  8. Press the desired cup size button: 1.35 oz. (.), 2.7  oz. (Ul or 5 oz. IULI. NOTE: After one minutewithout a button press or Lid opening, Espresso Maker will go into standby mode, and all lights will turn off. To wake the Espresso Maker, press any button and all lights will illuminate. Then select the desired cup size,
  9. The desired cup size button will illuminate when the espresso is brewing. When espresso stops brewing, all lights will turn off.
  10. Before removing the cup from the Cup Rest, lift the Espresso Lil to empty any remaining liquid from the pod and expel the used espresso pod into the Used Pod Container.
  11. The unit will stay preheated for 30 minutes. To power off, press the power switch to OFF (Ol position.
  12. Unplug.

How to Brew a Single-Serve Pod

  1. Fill the Removable Water Reservoir with water up to 56 oz. (1656 mL). Do not exceed the MAX fill line, and never let the water tank get below the MIN fill line.
  2. Place a cup on the Cup Rest with a Drip Tray. If using a travel mug, remove the Cup Rest with the Drip Tray,
  3. Plug into an outlet.
  4. Press the Power Switch, located on the right-side panel, to the N I position. NOTE: While preheating, lighted buttons will slowly fade in and out. When the lights stay on, the Coffee Maker is ready to brew.
  5. Lift FlexBrew Lid.
  6. Place Gray Removable Single-Serve Pod Holder in Funnel.
  7. Place a pod into a Single-Serve Pod Holder. Do not remove the foil.
  8. Close the FlexBrew Lid until fully latched.
  9. Press the desired cup size button: 8 oz. [e) or 10 oz. (P). NOTE: After one minute without a button press or Lid opening, the unit will go into standby mode, and all lights will turn off. To wake the unit, press any button, and all lights will illuminate. Then make desired brew selections, For a stronger cup of coffee, press the BOLD (-) Button.
  10. The desired cup size button will illuminate when coffee is brewing. When coffee stops brewing, all lights will turn off.
  11. Open the FlexBrew Lid and discard the used pod. Single-Serve Pod Holder should be rinsed after every use.
  12. The unit will stay preheated for 30 minutes. To power off, press the power switch to the OFF (O) position.

How to Brew Single-Serve Ground Coffee

  1. Fill the Removable Water Reservoir with water up to 56 oz. (1656 mL). Do not exceed the MAX fill fine, and never let the water tank get below the MIN fill line
  2. Plug into an outlet.
  3. Press the Power Switch, located on the right-side panel, to ON (0 positions. NOTE: While preheating, lighted buttons will slowly fade in and out. When the lights stay on, the Coffee Maker is ready to brew.
  4. Lift FlexBrew Lid.
  5. Remove the Brew Basket from the Cup Rest with the Drip Tray. Open the Brew Basket Lid; then place the Brown Removable Brew Basket on the countertop.
  6. Add ground coffee to the town Removable Brew Basket. Do not exceed a maximum quantity of 3 tablespoons (15 g).
  7. Close Brew Basket Lid. Place Brew Basket in Funnel.
  8. Close the FlexBrew Lid until fully latched.
  9. Place a cup on the Cup Rest with a Drip Tray. If using a travel mua, remove Cun Rest with Drio Trav.
  10. Press the desired cup size button; 8 oz. (**], 10 oz. (P), or 14 oz. (B J. NOTE: After one minute without a button press or Lid opening, the unit will go into standby mode, and all lights will turn off. To wake the unit, press any button, and all lights will illuminate. Then make desired brew selections. For a stronger cup of coffee, press BOLD (==) Button.
  11. The desired cup size button will illuminate when coffee is brewing. When coffee stops brewing, all lights will turn off.
  12. Open FlexBrew Lid and discard used grounds. The Brew Basket should be rinsed after every use.
  13. The unit will stay preheated for 30 minutes. To power off, press the power switch to the FF (O) position.
  14. Unplug.

Care and Cleaning

Routine Cleaning
All coffee makers should be cleaned at least once a month (once a week for areas with hard water).

  1. Fill the Removable Water Reservoir with 1/2 cup (118 mL) of white vinegar. Then, fill with cold water to 24 oz. (710 mL) mark.
  2. Lift the Espresso Lid to expel the used espresso pod. Empty the Used Pod Container and then place it back into the Base. Close Espresso Lid.
  3. Place a 5 oz. (148 mL) or larger cup on the Espresso side Cup Rest.
  4. Plug into an outlet.
  5. Press the Power Switch to the ON (I) position. Never lift the Espresso Lid or FlexBrew Lid during brewing cycles.
  6. Brew one Large Espresso cycle (L//5 oz./148 mL) brew cycle with no espresso pod in place.
  7. Ensure the Used Pod Container is in place, then lift the Espresso Lid. Hot water will be expelled from the espresso brewing chamber into the Used Pod Container. Empty water from the Used Pod Container.
  8. Lift the FlexBrew Lid and dispose of any used pods or ground coffee. Close FlexBrew Lid.
  9. Place a 16 oz. (473 mL) cup on FlexBrew side Cup Rest.
  10. Brew one 14 oz. (414 mL) (E) cycle without a pod or grounds.
  11. Empty any remaining liquid from the Removable Water Reservoir. Fill with cold water to the 24 oz. (710 mL) mark.
  12. Repeat steps 2-10. Empty any remaining liquid from the Removable Water Reservoir. The Coffee Maker is now clean.

General Cleaning

  1. Unplug and allow to cool.
  2. Hand wash all removable parts in hot, soapy water. Rinse and dry or wash in the top rack only of the dishwasher. DO NOT use the “SANI” setting when washing in the dishwasher. “SANI” cycle temperatures could damage your product.
  3. Wipe the outside of the Coffee Maker with a soft damp cloth.

Clogged Needle

  1. Unplug and allow to cool.
  2. Remove the Gray Removable Needle Holder from the Lid by turning counterclockwise from the lock icon (a) to the unlock icon (?).
  3. Bend a small paper clip. Insert the tip of the paper clip through the hole of the Piercing Needle and up into the shaft of the Piercing Needle to ensure the grounds have been removed.
  4. To replace the Gray Removable Needle Holder, insert a tab between the lock icon (a) and the unlock icon (1) and turn clockwise to lock.

Troubleshooting

No power

  • Check that the plug has been inserted correctly into an outlet and that the Power Switch, located on the right-side panel, is in the ON (1) position.
  • Coffee Maker is in power-saving mode. Press any cup-size button to wake up the Coffee Maker.

All cup lights are slowly fading in and out

  • The unit is in preheating mode. When the lights stay on, the Coffee Maker is ready to brew.

Espresso is not dispensing

  • The pod inserted may be faulty. Try again with a new pod.
  • All lights are flashing quickly: There is no water in the Water Reservoir. Fill with clean cold water.
  • The unit is preheating. Lights will slowly fade in and out during preheating. Once preheating is finished, all lights will stay on and you can press the desired cup size button to begin the brew cycle.

There is water at the bottom of the machine

  • Make sure that the Water Reservoir has been placed correctly into position.
  • Make sure that the Used Pod Container is installed before opening the Espresso Lid.
  • It is normal for a small amount of water to drip into the Pod Container.

The pod cannot be placed into the Pod Holder

  • Check if the Used Pod Container is full and needs to be emptied.
  • The espresso Lid may not have opened correctly. Try lifting the Espresso Lid again.

All Cup Lights are Quickly Flashing

  • Ensure the red plug has been removed from beneath the Water Reservoir before first use.
  • The Water Reservoir is empty or not securely in place. If empty, fill the Removable Water Reservoir with water up to 56 oz. (1656 mL). Do not exceed the MAX fill line, and never let the water tank get below the MIN fill line. It is normal for a small amount of water to drip into the Used Pod Container.
  • If you have added water to the Water Reservoir and the lights are still quickly flashing, press the desired cup selection again. The button may need to be pressed a few times to prime the water pump if the Water Reservoir has run dry. If lights continue to flash, discard the pod and insert a new pod.
  • The Coffee Maker needs to be described. See Care and Cleaning on page 8.
  • Espresso Lid is not closed. Close the Espresso lid.

Limited Warranty

This warranty applies to products purchased and used in the U.S. and Canada. This is the only express warranty for this product and is instead of any other warranty or condition. This product is warranted to be free from defects in material and workmanship for five (5) years from the date of original purchase in Canada and one (1) year from the date of original purchase in the U.S. During this period, your exclusive remedy is the replacement of this product or any component found to be defective, at our option; however, you are responsible for all costs associated with our returning a product or component under this warranty to you.

If the product or component is unavailable, we will replace it with a similar one of equal or greater value. This warranty does not cover glass, filters, wear from normal use, use not in conformity with the printed directions, or damage to the product resulting from accident, alteration, abuse, or misuse. This warranty extends only to the original consumer purchaser or gift recipient. Keep the original sales receipt, as proof of purchase is required to make a warranty claim. This warranty is void if the product is used or other than single-family household use or subjected to any voltage and waveform other than as specified on the rating label (e.g., 120 V ~ 60 Hz).

Every implied warranty, including any statutory warranty or condition, to the extent prohibited by law, in which case such warranty or condition is limited to the duration of this written warranty.
